About Merroir Studio
How it Started:
Hi there! I’m Julia, the artist behind Merroir Studio. I’m a watercolor artist and creative marketer who enjoys working collaboratively with people who are passionate about capturing special moments through visuals.
For years, I’ve been commissioned for house portraits and landscapes for family, friends, and coworkers. After gaining experience in creative marketing through my day job, I decided to relaunch my brand as Merroir Studio in order to offer my creative services through a sophisticated lens.
My goal is to bring your favorite experiences to life through art.
So, where does the name come from?
Merroir derives from the French word Mer, meaning the sea. It describes the environment where oysters are raised. Nothing affects the flavor of an oyster more than its natural habitat. Where an oyster is raised is essential to its taste and flavor profile.
As someone who is always on the hunt for the most refreshing oyster, I couldn’t help but compare my artistic journey to that of my favorite shellfish. My style has evolved over time, taking from my experiences with travel, architecture and studio art courses, and living along the rugged New England coast. My experiences and surroundings have a direct influence on my final product: visual, detail-oriented, and organic.
About Me
I’m a native New Englander currently living in the coastal town of Marblehead, MA. After five years of living in Boston’s North End neighborhood, I decided to trade the bustling city for the salty air and quaint small town.
Aside from art, I enjoy pilates and running (anywhere from a Peloton tread class to a marathon), snowboarding, swimming in Marblehead Harbor, finding hidden gem coffee shops, and going on long “coffee walks” with my husband, son, and golden retriever.
